It’s been a difficult 7 weeks.
I flew up with the kids to say goodbye. To my surprise, he was released and went home with hospice care..and I helped to take care of him for 2 weeks. In between the bad days and the sad days, the kids enjoyed the snow and loved being in the cold ! We made new friends, spent a lot of time with old friends, prayed, laughed, cried and loved.
On March 13th, The Angels called for one bad-ass Marine, to stand guard at the gates of Heaven. He will be sadly missed by many. I am grateful for many things, but mostly my time with him at the end. He put up a hell of a fight, to the bitter end.
No one is ever ready to say goodbye to someone they love, and this moment in time will change me.
I take comfort in knowing its not goodbye forever; it’s just goodbye for now. Until we meet again..
